KNOWN ISSUE:
RDP-287
After upgrading to 4.2.1, a Data Set might become inaccessible if the associated Server Cache is set higher than 6144MB. (The default is 250MB, and Quest does not recommend changing this default unless instructed to do so by a Technical Support Representative.) To work around this issue, reduce the Server Cache for the applicable Data Set to 2500MB or less.
Note: Prior to version 4.2.1, the NVFR Server software was internally capping the Server Cache value at 2500MB; manually reducing the Server Cache to 2500MB ensures the same memory consumption as prior to the software upgrade.
RDP-321
As explained in the Quest NetVault FastRecover Management Console User's Guide, you should always exclude the following items when protecting a File System Data Set. If you do not ensure that these items are in the Exclude List for the protected Data Set, you might cause the system to hang or to generate a BSoD during recovery of these folders or the entire system volume. Quest Software strongly recommends that you manually add these items to the Exclude List for existing File System Data Sets and to existing File System Policy Profile templates. (In v4.2.1, \ProgramData and \Users are not automatically excluded from Windows 2008.)
\Windows or directory where Windows is installed if default is not used
\Program Files (for 32-bit OS)
\Program Files (x86) (for 64-bit OS)
\Documents and Settings (Windows 2003)
\ProgramData (Windows 2008)
\Recovery (Windows 2008)
\Users (Windows 2008)
OTHER INFORMATION:
Quest strongly recommends that you structure SQL Server and Exchange Server Data Sets to prevent them from exceeding 2 terabytes (TB) of protected data. Including more than 2TB in a single Data Set can cause performance- and stability-related issues.
