This article explains why backup fails with Channel Error with NV8.0

Symptoms:
After NV8.0 upgrade or new installation of NV8.0, backup fails with the following error:

Error 2007/11/22 08:53:12 109 Media xxx /backup/vLib/drives/1: had channel error

Sub text:
NET 71 14 85312 Fatal error during TCP receive: Bad address
MEDWRITE 190 1 85312 Device write data in: FAILURE

This happens when 'Network Compression' is enabled.
This has been addressed and is fixed in the 8.0 Update 2 NetVault release.
In the meantime, please disable the 'Network Compression' option within your job configuration.
