Windows 2003 Client running NetVault 7.42 is behaving oddly. When first installed and going to add it in the Client in Client Management window on the server, there is a long delay before the password prompt comes up. Entering the password and clicking OK yields another long delay. Eventually, though, the server acknowledges that the client has been added.
However, when NetVault Service is restarted on the Windows Client, find that it is not listening on port 20031 and running a "Check Access" on the Server yields a "The remote machine is unreachable" message. If you wait for around 15 minutes, the Client does start listening on port 20031, but when you run a backup, the transfer rate is extremely poor (1kb/sec).
Another similar client installed at the same time is not displaying any of these problems.
AntiVirus program was configured to scan on read and was causing this issue.
AntiVirus should also be disabled when installing NetVault Software.
