Tape/VTL/NVSD media not overwriting -
Description
Tapes not being overwritten by NetVault even when specified to be overwritten in the job.

Cause
There are several reason why this could occur:
1. Media being Bad/Unusable
2. Media marked Read-Only
3.Retention set to never expire in Advanced Options
4. Media set to ARCHIVE
5. Tape labels set to 'NEVER' overwrite

Resolution
If any of these settings are assigned to your media labels or backup jobs then chances are that the tape will not be overwritten.
Setting a Backup Life in the 'Advanced Options' Tab is key when defining a backup life on the media.
