After upgrade, Ranger locks AD account
Description

After application upgrade or move Ranger or DB, account used for VC authentication is locked. Sometimes, Windows account/accounts used for repo authentication may be locked.
Cause

Ranger keeps credentials for VC/ESX and repo in the database. If you move Ranger from one server to another, it invalidates all stored passwords. When GUI opens and My Inventory is populated, Ranger uses blank passwords to authenticate against VC/ESX. While it does not lock ESX (Linux) account, it may lock Windows (either AD or VC local) account.
Same applies to the repositories. Usually, if you open repo properties, Free space will be displayed as Unknown.
Resolution

As soon as you open Ranger GUI, re-authenitcate VC/ESX/repo.
Unfortunately, in few cases it was not possible to re-authenticate VC - account was locked while GUI was opening. Workaround is to mark VC as deleted in Ranger DB (set IsDeleted column to 1for VC record in InventorySourceConnection table). Gui opens without VC in inventory. If you add VC, existing record will be re-used.
