Date: 08/06
NV Version: 7.x
OS Version: All
Application version:
Plugin version:
Description: If a Upgrade to a higher version of netvault gives you problems you may need to Reinstall Netavult from Scratch and you want to use VDL here's a Good way of doing it.
Symptoms:
1. Make sure you have at least 2 good NVDB backups to make sure you are covered . Possible one to tape and one to VDL tape. VDL is a
very easy and quick device to scan but if you have a tape device also take a NVDB backup to have a backup to the backup. For further
information on NVDB backup/restore see chapter19 it of the NV backup administrators guide that I have attached to the case .
2 Make a copy of NetVault\config\diskdevices.cfg some where safe
3. Uninstall Netvault
4. Move the netvault directory and all directories and files below from program files to a safe location
5. ReInstall Netvault
6. Stop the netvault service. Copy your old diskdevices.cfg file over the new one just created from the install.
7. Restart netvault Service, bring up netvault main menu , go into device manager and it should ask you to add the VDL , answer yes
this will then build the device tree and the VDL will appear in the device window .
8. scan the VDL with a right click on the library and take the option scan.
9. restore NVDB as per NV backup administrators guide chapter 19.
NOTE: This functionality does not extend to the movement of an SVDL to another host system.
Due to the internal operations of the SVDL this is not possible or supported
