[Description/Symptom]:
NetVault logs window displays severe error 'Severe Error Msg System "xxxxxx"? has no configured time source' message.
[Reason of the Problem/Issue]:
By default, the NetVault Server is configured as the BakBone Time Server for all clients within a given domain. This error message is logged when time synchronization fails for any reason.
[Solution/Workaround/Procedure]:
You can decrease the number of this message display by changing the time synchronization interval from NetVault configurator, [Time Synchronization] tab.
The default configurable value/unit varies depending on the NetVault version.
With NetVault 7.0 -
Default value - every 30 seconds
Configurable values - from 30 to 3,600 (seconds)
With NetVault 7.1 and onwards -
Default value - every 24 hours
Configurable values - from 1 to 1,200 (hours)
Please make sure that name resolution is configured correctly if NetVault Machine Name is specified in the "Synchronize BakBone time with system" field instead of an IP address.
Check all other issues that may prevent time successful time synchronization such as network connectivity issues.
