How to migrate/relocate SmartDisk? (4046651)

At this time, Quest SmartDisk does not support the migration of volumes with SmartDisk. Within SmartDisk the drive assignments must remain the same do to the data indexes.

1. Install a second instance of SmartDisk to your environment, but not on the same server as the current installation of SmartDisk, (you’re only allowed one instance of SmartDisk per server).
2. Add the second instance of SmartDisk to your NetVault installation, and then redirect your jobs to the second SmartDisk installation.
3. The data on the first instance of SmartDisk can be copied to the second instance of SmartDisk by using NetVault “datacopy” feature within NetVault Backup. Another option is to allow the data on the first SmartDisk installation to expire.
4. After using the “datacopy” function to copy data from one SmartDisk to another or allowing the data on the first installation of SmartDisk to expire, then remove the first installation of SmartDisk.
