It is a new installation of vRanger or a new ESX(i) host.
Backup fails with error: Error Message: Failed to create vRanger snapshot: Check the status of your VM, making sure the files are intact and that the VM is usable.
The snapshots are working (can be added and removed) when invoked from vSphere client.
This maybe due to a licencing or services or DNS issue.
A) You might be using Free ESXi. Free ESXi does not have vStorage APIs for Data Protection enabled which are part of Essentials Kit.
B) Your services are hung on the vRanger server and they need to be restarted.
C) There is a faulty configuration of DNS somewhere on the network.

Resolution A
Verify that it is not a 'free' instance of ESXi and that it is licensed correctly.
Navigate to vSphere client, click on Configuration tab and licensing link and verify that "vStorage API" is listed (included in "Essential Kit")
If you would like to use Hot Add feature (faster backup for ESXi than backup over LAN) please ensure you have "Enterprise Acceleration Kit"
Resolution B
Also, restart the services:
Restart the vRangerPro Services
1. stop the vRanger FLR and API services
2. restart the vRanger Pro service
3. start the vRanger API service
4. start the vRanger FLR service
Resolution C
1. Ensure the ESX host can correctly resolve the repositories, and the vRanger server by FQDN. This can be done by logging into the hosts service console, and pining the repository/vRanger by it's FQDN.
2. Try to ping from vRanger server all ESX/ESXi hosts by FQDN.
3. Check your DNS configuration on ESX host.
