When attempting to do a File Level Recovery (FLR) the disk is shown, however the volume shows no data.
The disk type of the original VM needs to be validated. Dynamic and GPT disk types are not supported for FLR. While dynamic disks can be easily identified in the Disk Manager, the only way to know that a disk is made up of a GPT partition is to go into the disk manager and right click on the disk and choose Properties. Here you can click on the Volumes tab and it will tell you if the partition style is a GUID Partition Table.
Please keep in mind that as of this writing ABM isn’t supported in the following configurations:
• GPT partitions. Supports only image restore not FLR. You will be able to see the disk and volume listed in FLR but data will not appear.
• Dynamic disks. ABM will simply not activate for Dynamic Disk volumes.
• Invalid windows license not genuine.
• Linux.
• vStorage API backups (Note# This means LAN Free backups and any backups from ESXi)
Please refer to product release notes for any additions/updates to supportability.
