How can I password protect my backups?
Operating requirements are that all backups must be protected with a password in case of theft.
NetVault allows you to encrypt your backups. These encrypted backups are then NOT accessible without knowing the correct key phrase and encryption scheme (there are multiple). If someone attempts to restore the backups without the correct key phrase or encryption type set in the NetVault Encryption configuration, the job will fail. Without this information, the data on the tapes will not be retrievable. Not even Quest Technical Support can unlock the data without knowing the correct key phrase/encryption setup.
An encryption license is required to use this functionality.
