Backup failed with error message:
"[yyyyy-mm-dd hh:mm:ss]: Windows Server 2008 OS detected, verifying that application-level quiescing is Enabled during the VDDK backup.

Volume Shadow Copy (VSS) was still running when the backup was executed. A quiesced snapshot using VSS was unable to run.
The error is actually coming from the vCenter and/or ESX server. You should see the same error message in the vSphere Recent Tasks or the Tasks & Events log for the VM.
Reboot the VM. This will ensure that the data contained in the Volume Shadow Copy is written back to the application or disk
