Description: During a large restore the job fails to complete successfully.
The restore fails after these two messages. The restore itself was a large backup of 859GB in total and was being restored to a client machine over the Network.
Symptoms: Errors are:
Error 2007/01/31 12:34:20 1400 Data Plugin Failed to add entry to restore list
Error 2007/01/31 12:34:20 1400 Data Plugin Failed to sort restore list
Looking at the Client machine it was determined that the NetVault installation had limited space available on it. Netvault\tmp had 100MB free.
The solution was to stop the NetVault Services on the client and go to the General Tab of the NetVault configurator and relocate the /tmp directory to another drive or location where you have several GB's free to allow for indexes.
Once the tmp location was changed in the general tab we restarted the services and re-submitted the restore job. In watching the tmp directory on the client we found that it was using up about 2Gb for this large job. The initial 100MB would never allow enough tmp space for the job to complete.
NOTE: Be sure that you type the correct full path of the location to where you are relocating the tmp directory into the General tab's tmp location.
