Description:
Tape labels do not match barcodes, even when the "Use Barcodes as Labels" option is enabled in the library's configuration.
This normally indicates that when the library was added to NetVault the Drives were not added in the correct Drive Bays. Usually Drives can be added in the order they are listed in the "Drive Selection" tab, but if the SCSI ID's are not reported correctly this will result in the physical drive not matching the "Drive Bay" in NetVault.
Symptoms:
In "Device Management" the tape label and the barcode are mismatched. For example:
Drive 1 (idle) : 000002 (000004)
Drive 2 (idle) : 000003 (000002)
First make a list of the drive bays, and what drive serial numbers NetVault thinks are in the drive bays.
1. Right-click the drive in "Device Management" and select "Configure".
2. Select the "Configuration" tab.
3. Take note of the "Device Serial Number".
4 Compare that serial numbers to the serial numbers on the physical drives. Normally, if you are experiencing these issues, the physical Drive (1,2, 3, 4, etc..) will not match up with where the drives are listed in NetVault.
1. Right click the library arm in "Device Management" and select "Modify"
2. This will open the "Configure" tab of the "Edit Device" window.
3. Right click each drive and select "Remove".
4. Select the "Drive Selection" tab and re-add the drives in the actual physical order that you got from step 4 of the verification.
5. Configure the drives as you wish, and save.
