Description: How to Span Tapes on a single stand alone drive
Symptoms: Tape reaches EOM and then just sits there flagging message waiting for media even after you change tapes. If you check device manager, you will see it still shows original tape in drive even though you changed it.
If you eject the tape from the drive, via the eject button on the drive, NetVault is not notified that the tape has been changed. When a tape on a single stand alone drive fills up and is waiting for another tape, you need open NVGUI, go to Device Manager, right click on tapedrive and select "unload". In most drives the tape will actually eject from the drive. Remove the tape and put in a new one. When the tape is ejected via NetVault the drive will be polled every minute by default. This can be configured by right clicking on the drive, in device management, and going to the configure tab. If it does not detect the new tape within one minute, then right click on the drive again and select "Check". Job should now continue on its way.
