When attempting a backup of a VM it fails with error message "VM has no disks"
A possible cause of this would be phantom snapshots on the VM
These may not be seen through the Snapshot Manager in the vSphere Client
Please follow these steps to help you resolve your issue.
1. Open the vSphere Client
2. Open the Snapshot Manager for the VM that fails with error "VM has no disks"
3. If the Snapshot Manager does not show any snapshots on the VM close the Snapshot Manager
4. Right click the VM and select to Edit Settings
5. Look at the VM disk(s) if the disk(s) show as being a VM_NAME-000001.vmdk or VM_NAME-000002.vmdk this VM has orphaned snapshots
6. Manually create a manual snapshot via the vSphere Client
7. Open the Snapshot Manger and click the Delete All button to delete all snapshots
8. If this does not remove the orphaned snapshot you may need to open a Support case and you may also need to contact VMware to help you remove the orphaned snapshots
