Description: Oracle backups during the spawned Autobackup phase do not go to correct or same target device that the Parent Job runs to.
Symptoms: Oracle backup completes and starts spawning the Autobackup jobs. These jobs run and are backed up to the wrong device, or not the device of your choice. This might occur if you have more than one Device in your target tab (for example, if you have a Virtual Library and a Physical tape library). The solution below will guide you in targeting the correct device for these spawned Autobackup jobs.
Verify that the Oracle Plug-in Configuration screen has the appropriate name of the Target Set in the CLI Backup Target Set field.
Take these steps to configure this target set:
Open the backup screen and go to the target tab. Next, select the option to “specify device”, check the Physical Tape Library only and deselect any “Virtual Libraries” you have. Next, in the Media section, set up the media you want this backup to go to. It would probably be good to use the same group label or media that you are using in the Oracle job as you would for this autobackup target set. Also, choose the same options for automatically label blank media, and reuse media set to either “Any, or With same group label.
Down on the bottom of this target set click the Save As button and save the target set as some name you can refer it to. Make it same and easy to identify, because in the next step you will type its name in the Oracle Plug-in configurations CLI Backup Target Set field.
Once you have that saved name, open the Oracle Plug-ins configuration screen and type the name of the target set in the CLI Backup Target Set field. Use the Exact name .
Click the OK to finalize and save your settings.
NOTE: The CLI Backup Target Set field left blank in the Oracle plugin screen will use the default target set.
