Description: 7.4.2 64-bit driver installation failed on Solaris 10 x86
Symptoms:
When installing 7.4.1 (from netvault-R2006FEB20-EXCALIBUR-SolarisIntel.tar download), Customer received the following error on our Sun v40z Solaris 10 x86 system.
Installing drivers
Installing 32 bit Intel driver
add_drv nv
No 64-bit version of (nv) found; 32-bit version of this driver exists.
32-bit driver (nv) not loadable on 64-bit kernel.
System configuration files modified but nv driver not loaded or attached.

Special notice regarding Intel Solaris 10 installations

Use of SCSI library changer arms on 64-bit installations of this
platform requires the sgen generic SCSI device driver driver.
To enable this, edit the /kernel/drv/sgen.conf file. Include
"changer" in the device-type-config-list value, e.g.
' device-type-config-list= "changer" '
Important: take care when ammending this file, as inappropriate
configuration may result in an unbootable system.
Starting NetVault Services
Installation of was successful.
After an attempt to edit/ammend of the sgen.conf file
/kernel/drv/sgen.conf file. Include
"changer" in the device-type-config-list value, e.g.
' device-type-config-list= "changer" '
;we found that the SCSi card did not even show up at all within his OS.
Cfgadm -al did not show any SCSI card device.
After further research in the SCSI card the customer was using. I found that the card was actually a 32 bit card. Not a 64 bit card.
So the key is to make sure that all the hardware used for the NetVault 64 bit build is actually 64 bit rated hardware.
