When diagnosing backup failures to NDMP attached tape drives we can see various connection down messages that usually relate to response timeouts between filer and netvault server or client.
This can be caused by VIF (Virtual network interfaces) were the VIF configuration has multiple NIC's (Teaming) in it and these are connected to intelligent switch. As it is not really our a netvault problem to make sure the configuration rules on the filer and switches are implemented correctly. So on occasions need to be able to exclude the VIF teamed configuration and below is explains a way of doing this.
1/ create a new VIF on filer using just one interface (make note of new IPaddress)
2/ we need to Chang the IPaddress used by the NDMP plugin to the new IP address of the test VIF.
