How can you generate a report to show how many times a piece of media has been reused?
There is an option that you can use within a Canned Report to show how many times a piece of media has been reused after data has been written to that media again, but you will have to amend an existing Canned Report and save this report with a new name (otherwise if you save an amendment with the same Canned Report name; then when upgrading NetVault, the upgrade process will over write the amended Canned Report with its default version).
1] Open NetVault GUI – Reports section.
2] Right click on the “Media – General” Canned Report and select “Edit / View Job”.
3] Double click on the “Media – General” Component in the lower window.
4] Click on the “Field Selection” tab.
5] Select the “Times Intialized” item in the top section and click on the “Add” button.
6] You should now see the “Times Intialized” item in the lower window.
7] Click on the “Saved and add to Job” button on the top left hand side and that window will close.
8] Alter the Job Title on the top right hand side, so that this new Canned Report doesn't get overwritten during a NetVault upgrade.
9] Click on the “Save” button on the top left hand side.
10] Double click on that new Canned Report name and you will see the new “Times Intialized” column on the far right hand side.
It is worth performing a NVDB backup, so that your amended Canned Report is backed up.
