Affected Module & Version - N/A
OS Version - ANY
Application Information - N/A
Description:
A User can no longer run a job he created, after it has been modified and run by an 'admin' user.
Symptoms:
When multiple users are created via NetVault's Access Control, the jobs they create and run will belong to the user who creates the job. However, the last user (with sufficient privileges) to run a job will appear to be the owner.
In other words, if an Admin user edits/modifies and run a job he did not create, this job will change ownership to the last user who modified it (Admin).
This can be problematic when the Admin user modifies and runs jobs that should later be run by simple users.
The regular user in this case will not be able to execute the job.
To give ownership back to the original user, the admin will have to:
- log on to Netvault as admin
- give the following rights to the original user:
> Jobs - Administer backup/restore sets
> Jobs - Jobs owned by this user may run
> Jobs - Run predefined jobs instantly
> Jobs - Submit/update backup jobs
> Jobs - View backup jobs
- the original user will then be able to login, modify and submit the job
- remember to deny the rights you gave to the original user once this is done
