VaultDR Online v2.3 or earlier in conjunction with NetVault: Backup 7.4.5 can not be restored wit (4045534)

Description: Backups performed with VaultDR Online v2.3 or earlier in conjunction with NetVault: Backup 7.4.5 or earlier can not be restored with NetVault: Backup 8.0 Update 1 or later.


Symptoms: Primary issue is that VaultDR 2.3 for Windows returned restore failures when using NetVault Backup 8.0. It is also noted that restores from previous versions of NetVault Backup cannot be restored using NetVault Backup 8.0. The core underlying issue is as follows; The modification of NDMP code from NetVault Backup 7.45 to NetVault Backup 8.0 required a NDMP alignment of the data buffer after backup. The VaultDR Online for windows does not align the backup data buffer after completion. Thus, causing a failed restore with NetVault Backup 8.0.

Starting with v2.3 Update 1, backups taken with this version of the VaultDR plugin will be restoreable with NetVault: Backup v8.0 Update 1 and later.
This update will still not allow for the recovery of VaultDR backups made with version prior to 2.3 Update 1 but will ensure future compatibility.
As a workaround for this issue customers are advised to revert back to NetVault Backup 7.45 to perform their restore.
