Product & Version: NVBU 8.5
OS Version: windows
Module & Version: file system plugin
Application version:
Symptoms:
backups from a windows share are successful using the NSB / share method
When restoring to a windows network share using the file system plugin
the following error messages are displayed within the netvault binary log :
Warning 2010/03/25 10:37:39 49 Data Plugin NVSERVER 1 items and their contents could not be restored
\\ukfs1\share.user$\test_can : Access is denied.
The parent directory of the data set is created on the share but netvault is unable to write the child files and sub-directories within.
netvault creates the new directoru with with administrator only permissions hence why there are no permissions on the resultant directory for the share user impersonated by the NSB method and the subsequent files fail to restore
To enable Netvault to perform the restore sucessfully as per JIRA FSG-224 for a network share you have to restore with a Domain-Admin account
To do this the netvault server must run as the Domian Administrator account.
To achieve this :
1 - within the windows services and applications gui change the user the netvault process manager service runs as from the local/system account
to the Domain administrator account using .Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services -> NetVault Process Manager -> "Log On"
2 - stop and restart netvault
3 - retry the restore to the windows share
