Symptoms:
When Installing and configuring the SharePoint APM, You are posed with the following dilema. Do I need a Shared Folder or a regular non-shared folder as the directory for the SharePoint APM?
Here is how you determine if a Shared Folder is required or if you can configure a regular non-shared folder to be the Temporary Directory.
a) A shared Folder that accessible by all server involved is a requirement when you are configuring the SharePoint APM for a Farm (Composed of two or more servers)
b) If you are configuring the Temporary Directory for either a Windows SharePoint Services (WSS) or a standalone SharePoint farm (composed of only one server). then you can use a regular non-shared folder.
