Backups with the option “Create and Backup Shadow Copy?” enabled on a Windows XP client will fail.
Symptoms:
The error messages will be:
*Error creating volume snapshot(s): VSS_E_BAD_STATE
*Failed to create VSS snapshot
*An error occurred when processing the final tree of items to backup
*Failed to prepare the selection tree and backup options
VSS Shadow Copy backups are not supported for Windows XP.
Windows XP is not in the list of supported platform for NetVault Backup:
