Symptoms:
Backups to smartdisk run at a reasonable speed but consolidations take a long time.
Cause:
A consolidation backup needs to pass the data to the server or client we chose in the backup option tab. As Smartdisk is a network device and is not always installed on a netvault server or client, the data may be passed across the network to a server or client chosen and then back. This obviously becomes a huge overhead when doing consolidation/
Install netvault client on SmarDisk server and make it a SmartClient. Then in the backup option tab of the consolidation job select the SmartClient/ SmartDisk as where the backup should run.
Explanation:
This stops the backup data going over the network to a client or netvault server then back to the SmartDisk to be written as a consolidated backup
