Question:
If I upgrade, will I lose any of my backup settings, or all my configured backup sets? My main concern is that I do not want to re-configure all my jobs again.
Answer:
An Upgrade simply recognizes the previous install, prompts you asking if you would like to upgrade, and then if you choose yes, It upgrades the necessary files in the installation keeping all of the current configurations intact.
Question:
If I upgrade the NV server do I have to also upgrade all my clients?
Answer:
If you upgrade, no, you would not have to upgrade your clients. At least not right away, but it is recommended to upgrade them eventually. But in the meantime, the backups will continue to run despite the older version on the clients
Question:
Do I need a new license to upgrade to latest version available on your website?
Answer:
As long as you have a current license with your present installation and a support contract you are entitled to free upgrades. They do not require a new license in order to upgrade.
Question:
The newly downloaded software is being shown as a 'trial version'. I need your Full version.
Answer:
Our distribution of software includes a 45 day evaluation license. This is the full version. It simply has a trial license built in to allow customers to use the version on a trial basis before making the decision to purchase.
Question:
License -- with upgrade, will it automatically recognize our current license, as well as other add on plugins?
Answer:
When you upgrade the Netvault Server or a Netvault Client all licensing will be left intact. So any plugins, as an example Exchange, SQL etc. that might be installed on a client, will retain the licensing as the client is upgraded. It is only when you uninstall and reinstall that you would need to apply the licensing once again.
