Backups of VM’s fail with the message “Task failed to be created: Creating a snapshot for vRanger”
Cause

Backups of VM’s hosted on ESXi servers fail with the error message “Task failed to be created: Creating a snapshot for vRanger”
Resolution

This is a licensing issue. An ESXi 4.0 (vSphere) server needs to have minimum VMware Essentials licensing and an ESX 3.5i server needs to be licensed for VCB.
