Repository is added and “Global Manifest” file is created but the jobs times out after 1 to 15 minutes with error: Error Message: Version string portion was too short or too long.
When you putty to the host it can’t ping repository by FQDN name or by TCP/IP address.
The configuration in “DNS and Routing” on your ESX host is wrong. Or the DNS listed on “DNS and Routing” page can’t resolve FQDN of the vRanger server.
Or
Ports are closed on the firewall between the Host and the repository.
Please add DNS which would resolve the FQDN of the repository (Server where the repository is located)
Please make sure following ports are open.
TCP ports that should be open:
TCP 22 - SSH
TCP 443 - SSL
TCP 137 - CIFS
TCP 138 - CIFS
TCP 139 - CIFS
TCP 445 - CIFS
