Description:
Devices attached to a Mirapoint Message Server cannot be opened by NetVault:Backup.
Symptoms:
A backup device (tape library/autoloader/drive) attached directly to a Mirapoint Message Server is not displayed in the NetVault:Backup Device Management "Add Library" window. NetVault:Backup can not be configured to perform backups of the Mirapoint Message Server directly to an attached backup device.
Cause:
There are 2 possible causes -
1. On the Mirapoint Message Server, "NDMP LogProtocol" is set to ON
2. There is more than one medium changer and one tape drive connected to a single SCSI bus on the Mirapoint Message Server -
Resolution
To resolve Cause-1, log onto the Message Server and issue the command "NDMP set LogProtocol OFF".
About Cause-2, once a Mirapoint Message Server has been configured as an NDMP Server, it will only support one media changer and one tape drive on its SCSI Bus. A library device locally attached to the Mirapoint Message Server that is comprised of a media changer and three drives will only allow for the use of the media changer and a single drive). -
