Description:
How to use global notification/events to immediately run a second backup or restore job after a scheduled backup finishes.
For example, this method can be used to omit a database that failed and run another job to backup the other critical databases when the backup fails to determine the cause, or to run a restore job immediately after a backup job successfully completes.
In the advanced option screen for the first, scheduled, job, set up a custom event by entering a memorable title for the event in the field, or by selecting a pre-created event using the drop-down box. The event can run if the job is Successful, has warnings, or fails. The same event can be used for multiple conditions.
In the Main GUI screen, enter the Global Notification screen via the Administration menu. Expand the ‘Job – User Defined’ folder. The event created in the previous step should be listed. Double click the event, and then double-click the ‘Run a job’ field. Enter the job id of the second backup or restore job (pre-created) in the text box. The syntax is:
JOBID = XX
Save the changes by clicking the save button, or by selecting the Save option in the File menu.
When the first scheduled job completes, and if the selected condition is met, then job XX will immediately run.
