Description:
Instructions for using txtconfig to enable trace on a snapserver

Symptoms:
In some situations the GUI configurator may not be available to switch on debugging, in these cases, the following procedure may be applied.
 

1) SSH to the snap server and log in as admin

2) at the prompt run
osshell

3) su - root (enter password)

4) at the prompt run
./txtconfig

5) enter "p" (page) then press return

6) select the option for "General" (usually 5 - but may vary depending on version of netvault)

7) select the option "Generate debugging files" (usually 2 - but again may very with Netvault version) - this will toggle the generate associated value between "ON" and "OFF" - ensure it is on.

8) Type Q (quit)

9) then when prompted select "y" to save values.

For tracing plugins you do not need to restart the Netvault services, for tracing other options you may need to.

Trace will be placed in the ~netvault/trace directory.

Please remember to disable trace after your test have been run as trace can grow very large very quickly and fill up the partition that Netvault resides on.
