When protecting a Windows system using the Agent Software, the wizard display the following message after the "Connection" step:

The WMI query to request the version of the Agent software failed. The issue could be caused by one of the following:

• The remote machine is blocked by the firewall.
• The host name or IP address is wrong or the remote machine is shut down
• The "Remote Procedure Call (RPC)" service is not running on the remote machine.

Please verify the following:

• Check that exclusion has been added for Rapid Recovery Agent Service to communicate using ports 8006 (administrative) and 8009 (data transfer).
• Ensure there are firewall exclusions that allow Distributed Component Object Model (DCOM) polls using Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI). Window Firewall includes the following rules that are disable by default:

• The DNS can resolve the Agent hostname; alternatively, use the system IP address to protect the system.
• Ensure Quest Rapid Recovery Agent Service is running.
• Verify that Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service is not stopped.
• Check that Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) service is active.
