Unable to backup Exchange Server due to "Operation failed due to concurrent modification by another operation" reported by VMware ESX.
Basically we use the VMware API to open and close Snap shots.
A "Consolidated Helper" snapshot happens when we tell VMware to close the a SnapShot then, VMware loses track of the snap shot during the close.
Workaround 1:
To close a Consolidated Helper snapshot is to power down the VM then to choose "Delete All" from the snapshot manager, if the snapshot shows up under the snapshot manager. If no snapshots show up under the snapshot manager create a new snapshot manually via the VI client and then choose to delete all from the snapshot manager.
Workaround 2:
If the Delta files still exist after deleting all snapshots, then run the "cmware-cmd <cfg> removesnapshots" and it totally removes all offending delta's.
