Description: nvgui fails to load after crash
Symptoms:
the nvgui will not launch, and does not report an error after a crash.
The gui window crashed after trying to view a log of a finished job.
when you attempted to restart it, it never pops up.
shutting down and restarted the server, but it doesn't help.
you can run nvconfigurator, but it now hangs when I try to stop the service
you can't even stop the service via /etc/init.d/netvault stop
you can kill the nv processes on the machine, and things seem to startup fine, however the gui fails to launch still, and you can't kill the service again.
Most likely cause is database corruption.
1) Check for any orphan NetVault processes running.
Kill the orphan NetVault processes.
2) Launch the NetVault Configurator. Go to the General tab. It will display the path for the Database Directory, Trace Directory, Log Directory, and Temporary Directory. Make sure the path listed is correct and that the directory does exist. Check that the location for the temp directory has adequate space.
3) If Step 1 is not successful, and Step 2 is not a problem, then rename the MediaDatabase and ScheduleDatabase. MediaDatabase and ScheduleDatabase are under the DB folder. If the NetVault service/processes start, then the problem is corruption in one of the renamed databases. To determine which database is the problem, stop NetVault and rename each database back to original in turn.
