A graphical environment may not be available to run the NetVault Backup Configurator. In such environments use the command line interface (CLI) utility "txtconfig" instead.

1) SSH to the system.
2) 'su - root' (enter password) if necessary.
3) At the prompt run 'txtconfig'.
4) Enter "p" (page) then press return.
5) Select the option for "General" (usually 5 - but may vary depending on version of netvault).
6) Select the option "Generate debugging files" (usually 2 - but may very with Netvault version) - this will toggle the between "ON" and "OFF" - ensure it is ON.
7) Type Q (quit).
8) When prompted select "y" to save values.
If tracing plugins you do not need to restart the Netvault services, for tracing other options you may need to.
Debug trace files will be placed in the '.../netvault/trace' directory.
Remember to disable debug tracing after your tests are complete, as trace can grow very large very quickly and fill up the partition that Netvault resides on.
