When a VM is vMotioned to another host and a backup or replication job is attempted you may receive the generic "Error in the application." This is due to the vRanger application not getting a refreshed inventory on the VMware infrastructure.
The best way to resolve this is to restart the vRanger services.
- Exit vRanger GUI
- Start>Run and enter services.msc
- Locate the 3 vRanger services
- select vRanger API Service then Right Click and select Stop
- select vRanger FLR Service then Right Click and select Stop
- select vRanger Pro or vRanger Service then Right Click and select Restart
- once started select vRanger API Service the Right Click and select Start
- select vRanger FLR Service the Right Click and select Start
