Symptoms:
When upgrading from 7.4.x to v.8.1, Notification scripts are failing with error code 1 : /usr/netvault/scripts/global/sysmail.sh
Event 'Job Failed', class 'job': /usr/netvault/util/nvsendmail failed in script /usr/netvault/scripts/global/sysmail.sh
Reasons: During an upgrade, Notification settings in the Configurator are reset.
- On the Notification Tab in the Configurator, ensure that the Mail Server and Global Notification settings are correct. After making any changes click “Apply”, then stop and start the service in the Service Tab.
In the NetVault GUI -> Administration -> Access Control and/or Global Notification, ensure that the necessary email addresses and notifications are setup properly.
If after rerunning the jobs the error remains, do the following:
1)Launch the Configurator
2)Go to the Notification Tab
3)Uncheck “Perform Authentication”
4)Go to the security Tab
5)Check “Disable Security”
6)Go to the Firewall Tab and open ports if needed
7)Click on Apply
8)Go to the Service Tab
9)Stop and Start the service
If this helps, then there is either a password and or firewall issue that needs to be addressed.
