Description:
Setting up an NDMP attached Tape Device
Symptoms:
In Device Manager you are not able to add a device that is attached to the NDMP Filer. Checking the status of NDMP on the filer does show the device as on-line -
Resolution
Filer not added to NetVault (through the Backup window) as an NDMP Client - it must be added to establish NetVault communication to filer and attached devices.
Steps Taken:
Install NDMP Client Plugin on the NetVault server
-add filer (using corrrect user and password)
-verify you can connect to the filer though the backup window
-close device manager if still open, then open device manager
-add/configure device -
