Replication of Windows 2008 R2 VM with VMXNET3 NIC results in lost network setting on replica
Description

When replicating a Windows 2008 R2 Virtual Machine with an VMXNET3 NIC, on a test failover the network settings are lost.
Cause

This is a VMware issue due to the VMXNET3 NIC generating a new MAC address and serial number, and because of this, the replicated VM is detected as a new VM, and not a replica.

Resolution

Allocate an E1000 NIC to the source VM is a workaround for this issue.
