Description:
Tape(s) get marked as UNUSABLE
Symptoms:
When tapes are positioned to drive and the tape headers can't be read by multiple drives, tapes get marked as UNUSABLE and following messages are logged in Logs window.
(Server: Library) Device 'DRIVE 2:Server' assigned to job,positioning media 'MEDIA 1' to segment 5
(Server: Library) Media 'MEDIA 1' failed in two different drives, mark it unusable
(Server: Library) Device 'DRIVE 2:Server' assigned to job failed
This situation can happen when not only hardware (tapes/drives) is faulty, but also when the contents of a tape does not match what is contained in the NetVault Database.
Run a "scan" on the tape marked as UNUSABLE. If the scan is not successful further analysis will be required.
