When performing an NDMP restore, restores can take a long time, the following guidelines can be applied to most filers provided they use the "dump" method for backups.
* To restore an entire volume, use option "Never do Direct Access Restore".
* To restore single file, use option "Perform Direct Access Restore if Possible".
* To restore a directory and its contents, use option "Perform Direct Access Restore by Recovering Individual Files".
Note that if any items have been marked as omitted in the Restore Selection tab the "Perform Direct Access Restore by Recovering Individual Files" option must be enabled otherwise restore will fail.
If the restore is attempted with "Perform Direct Access Restore if Possible", "Perform Direct Access Restore by Recovering Individual Files" or "Only Do Direct Access Restore" enabled, and "Do Direct Backup if Possible" was NOT enabled during the backup, the restore job may fail.
