Description:
How to save Windows Event Logs

Windows 2000/2003/XP
1. Click Start, and then click "Administrative Tools", and then "Event Viewer".
2. Right-click the log which you want to save, and then click "Save Log File As".
3. In the "Save as type" box ensure that "Event Log (*.evt)" is selected.
4. Specify a file name and location where you want to save the file, and then click Save.
The log file is saved in the format that you specified.
Send a copy of the Application Log and System Log to support.
Windows 2008/Vista
1. Click Start, and then click "Administrative Tools", and then "Event Viewer".
2. Find then right-click the log which you want to save, and then click "Save Events As".
3. In the "Save as type" box ensure that "Event Files (*.evtx)" is selected.
4. Specify a file name and location where you want to save the file, and then click Save.
The log file is saved in the format that you specified.

Windows 2008/Vista (Command Line)
Start the Command Prompt, then run the following commands:
- wevtutil epl System C:\Windows\Temp\System.evtx
- wevtutil epl Application C:\Windows\Temp\Application.evtx
