OS Version: All supported Windows platforms
Application version: n/a
Plugin version: VaultOS 3.6, VaultDR Server 2.101 & VaultDR Online 2.3
Description:
After successfully backing up an Intel-based IBM Blade Server running Windows, the restore will fail.
Symptoms:
The restore job will fail with the following messages:
DR: ERROR 0: Failed to open device: /dev/sda. No medium found
Body error occured during request restore client partition table for device: /dev/sda - Disk 0
Failed to restore partition table for device: /dev/sda - Disk 0
Get partition table msg body error for /dev/sda, after restore
Reason:
A blade server generally has 2 disks, the first disk (disk0) is the hidden IBM system partition, the second disk is the Windows OS.
VaultDR Online will back up the second disk as expected, but when restoring, VaultDR server 2.101 will attempt to restore the second disk onto the first, causing the above errors.
This fault has been fixed with the release of VaultDR Server 2.2 and VaultOS 4.0. Please upgrade/reinstall the VaultDR Server and VaultOS plugins to this level.
