Description:
Excluding files from backup on Windows with NetVault 7.1.2 and later.
Symptoms:
Files may not be correctly excluded from filesystem backups on Windows machine, even after and exclusion file has been created and specified for the Filesystem Plugin.
Cause of problem:
NetVault 7.1.2 includes version 6.17 of the File System APM. With version 6.17 and later of NetVault's File System APM a Unicode file containing a list of name-based and path-based exclusions is used. This replaces the previous comma seperated list method. Saving these exclusion files as plain-text results in the Filesystem plugin not correctly excluding items from backup.
In Windows environments use WordPad or Write to save the file as a "Unicode Text Document".
