Description
Hyper-V Backup Job fails on the specific VM with "Failed to create VSS snapshot Error".
On the trace, VSS returns below error "VSS_E_FLUSH_WRITES_TIMEOUT";"Error in C:\cygwin64\home\admin\buildslave\hyperv.win7.x86_32.64\mainline\source\hyperv\vssutil\vssutilbackup.cpp(1683). Call (hr) returned 0x80042313**** VSS Return code: VSS_E_FLUSH_WRITES_TIMEOUT"Also, "[5] Waiting for completion " status with several writers on the vm.Rebooting the VM does not help the issue. -
Cause
This is a VSS relating issue. -
Resolution
The VM that was having the VSS problem was only doing 1 role, so the customer have moved the role to a new server that has a working VSS snapshot and decommissioned the old server.
