Frequency of Core Account Logins on Protected Agent Servers (4041464)

There may be occasions when the frequency of core account logins to agent servers may be of concern.

There a way to decrease the number of login's appassure makes to a protected server.

By default the metadata is updated every 1 minute.

Quest does not provide support for problems that arise from improper modification of the registry. The Windows registry contains information critical to your computer and applications. Make sure you back up the registry before modifying it. For more information on the Windows Registry Editor and how to back up and restore it, refer to Microsoft Article ID 256986 “Description of the Microsoft Windows registry” at Microsoft Support.

A registry entry can be modified in Core server's registry branch with the following instructions.

1. Stop core service
2. Take a backup of the registry and adjust the string values for the following registry entries:
   • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\AppRecovery\Core\MetadataCacheService\AgentMetadataUpdatePeriod
   • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\AppRecovery\Core\MetadataCacheService\CoreMetadataUpdatePeriod
   • WARNING: It is strongly advised not to increase these to a value larger than the largest protection schedule's interval value. If characteristics in the agent server are changed at any point, and metadata is not taken, this could have an effect on backups.
3. Start the core service.
