Backup Failure "A Shadow Copy is Already in Progress"
Description
A backup transfer has failed. In addition, the following error is identified in the Agent AppRecovery log:
ERROR {Timestamp} [143] - Replay.Agent.Implementation.Transfer.TransferSession (RequestUri=https://{Agent}:8006/apprecovery/api/agent/transfer/snapshots ClientAddress={IP}:{Port} Service=Replay.Agent.Management.Transfer.TransferManagement Method=TakeSnapshot) Failed to take snapshot Replay.Agent.Contracts.ShadowCopy.ShadowCopyException depth 0: Error snapping volumes (C:\;D:\;E:\;F:\): The creation of a shadow copy is already in progress. (0x80131500) ---> Replay.Common.Contracts.ReplayException depth 1: The creation of a shadow copy is already in progress
Cause
Rapid Recovery relies on Windows Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) as part of the snapshot process. If the VSS subsystem is in use by another program, then there will be a conflict which may prevent Rapid Recovery from performing the snapshot.
Resolution
Check to see if shadow copies are scheduled to run on the Agent machine. If so, reschedule the shadow copies in such a way that they do not overlap with the backup schedule of Rapid Recovery snapshots. Another option is to completely disable the scheduled shadow copies from taking place because the backups are now being created and managed by Rapid Recovery.
If there is a second backup software still installed and creating snapshots on the Agent machine, please disable or uninstall the additional backup application, so it does not conflict with Rapid Recovery backups.
