Description

Shared drive backup fails with Fatal Error: Backup Failed when trying to do a backup of a NAS share via the NetVault server. Share can be accessed on the server and using the credentials .
Cause

Backup of Network share fails with the below , however when you access the share from the client server we can see that it could access .

Warning 2017/07/05 88 24 1 DataPlugin Client_Server_With_Network_access Failed to access file/directory
Error 2017/07/05 88 24 1 DataPlugin Client_Server_With_Network_access Failed to build valid list of incremental entries
SevereError 2017/07/05 88 24 1 DataPlugin Client_Server_With_Network_access Failed while backing up items
Error 2017/07/05 88 24 1 Jobs Netvault_backup_server Fatal error: Backup failed
Error 2017/07/05 88 24 1 Jobs Netvault_backup_server Job Status: Backup Failed

However the issue was the user account used to access the network share location did not have access to Netvault Client server .
Resolution

Make sure the user the user account used has access to the netvault client server and the network share also .
