When upgrading you recieve an error from the installer saying:
Error: PostgreSQL upgrade check failed.
From \Netvault Backup\nv_pg_upgrade you will find that pg_upgrade_server.log have a line saying
FATAL: could not create lock file "postmaster.pid": Permission denied
Your pgsql folder inside your db folder doesn't have your username in the security tab with full control of the folder.
WORKAROUND
- Look for your pgsql inside your db folder.
- Right click pgsql folder and properties
- Go to Security Tab
- Edit button to add the username that is trying to upgrade
- Give Full Control of the folder
- Apply and re-run the installer.
